Coalition SEGA calls on the Inclusive Process for Creating a Law for Young People
On the occasion of the start of the process for creating the Law on Youth, today in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia
a public event was held to discuss the way of creating the Law, as well as the needs, rights and obligations of the youth that should be regulated by this law. The moderator of this event was the MP Ivana Tufekdzic, and at the event spoke: the Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Frosina Tashevska Remenski; Director of the Agency for Youth and Sports, Darko Kevski; MP Nevenka Stamenkovska; the President of the National Youth Council of Macedonia, Blazhen Maleski; MP Kostadin Kostadinov; Executive Director of Coalition SEGA, Zoran Ilieski; MP Agim Shaqiri and MP Teuta Biljajli. The process for creating the Law on Youth starts at the initiative of the Club for youth issues and policies at the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia. Three working groups were created, one of which was composed of MPs members of the Youth Affairs and Politics Club, the second led by the Agency for Youth and Sports, composed of representatives of the institutions of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the third consisting of representatives of civil society organizations - members of the biggest youth umbrella organizations in the country.
After a series of meetings, the three groups created a draft process for the creation of a Law on Youth, which provides a broad, inclusive and comprehensive approach. The creation of this law will be followed by extensive consultations at local and national level, public debates and discussions with academic and expert faculties, institutional mappings, as well as a series of public hearings. This is the first case of launching a legislative process involving all stakeholders. The process is very short, but very participatory. What we point out as a working group is that this process should be a motive for every young person and everyone who comes from a civil society organization to contribute to it "- emphasized Zoran Ilieski, executive director of the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA.
