Coalition SEGA Held a Closing Event to Promote the Results of the Project "Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in Macedonia"

The final event for promotion of the results of the project "Implementation of the Convention

on the Rights of the Child in Macedonia" organized by the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA was held on 28.01.2020 in hotel Holiday Inn in Skopje.

The aim of the event was to present the achievements of the project that was implemented in the period 2011 - 2019, as well as to promote the new "Guide for student participation, student organization and protection of children's rights in primary schools", in order to facilitate implementation of the provisions of the Law on Primary Education that refer to student participation and organization.

The event was opened by the Director of the Bureau for Development of Education in the Republic of N. Macedonia, Mr. Zeqirija Hasipi, the National Director of the Pestalozzi Children's Foundation, Ms. Azbija Memedova and the Executive Director of Coalition SEGA, Mr. Zoran Ilievski..

Zoran Ilieski, Executive Director of SEGA, said: “Through this project, over a decade, it has significantly contributed to improving the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in our country. On the one hand, systemic changes have been introduced to ensure that the voice of students in schools is heard, and on the other hand, it has contributed to better recognition and respect of children's rights by adults."

Mr. Zeqirija Hasipi, Director of the Bureau for Development of Education stated: “I am honored today that after several years of co-operation with the project Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in Macedonia implemented by the Coalition SEGA and with the Bureau, today we see the results. It is further evidence that co-operation between government institutions and non-governmental organizations with support from international organizations provides progress in education, with the idea of ​​enhancing the skills of young and educated staff in schools."

The project was implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science and the Bureau for Development of Education with the support of the Pestalozzi Children's Foundation.
